Munir Haider Khan (from Sweden), Major Qayum Qadri (from Toronto Canada) and M Akram Khan-Cheema (London UK) planed a visit during March/April 2022 to support GVE.
Munir Haider Khan conducted his annual sessions with the GVS children and their teachers. This is an uplifting and very exciting time when Munir as a qualified Cricket Coach spends a week of organised sessions full of joy with groups of children and their teachers.
This culminates in a final ‘match’ that lifts the spirits and a number of teams selected by the children are awarded especially prepared trophies.
A great deal of learning takes place during these sessions without the children always realising the importance of learning through play.
The visit was full of challenges in terms of re-registration of the school with Chakwal District Office, and the need to repair the crumbling building structure. Fortunately we found a qualified Structural Engineer (Haseeb Taj) who is helping to restore the structure of the building, bless him.
Haseeb has also been helping us to look at ways of refurbishing the house in Village Dore so that we can start our second GVS. We managed to register GVE Co Limited in Pakistan with 4 Directors- two from Pakistan (Abida Hashmi & Danial Hashmi) and two from overseas (Myself and Munir Haider Khan) as per the legal advice.
This is a step towards ensuring that GVE complies with all the legal requirements related to anti-corruption and fraud – both in Pakistan and in UK with the Charity Commission.
